The Australian Building Codes Board maintains a list of plumbing and drainage products that are excluded from the WaterMark Certification Scheme.

It is important to note that not all plumbing and drainage products require WaterMark certification. However, all materials and products proposed to be used in a plumbing and drainage installation require a risk assessment to determine if WaterMark certification is necessary.

This document, the WaterMark Schedule of Excluded Products, lists products that have been predetermined to be excluded from WaterMark certification. Another document available from the ABCB website, the WaterMark Schedule of Products, lists products that have been predetermined to require WaterMark certification to meet the requirements of the National Construction Code Volume Three - the Plumbing Code of Australia (PCA).

To ensure that materials and products are fit for purpose, those listed on the WaterMark Schedule of Excluded Products must be supported by evidence of suitability in accordance with Part A of the PCA. One option of evidence of suitability is the specification listed in the evidence of suitability section.

Where a product is excluded from requiring certification and includes integral components that are listed on the WaterMark Schedule of Products, each component shall be individually certified. A material or product intended for use in contact with drinking water must comply with AS/NZS 4020 in accordance with Part A of the PCA.

From 1 May 2023 a three year transition period will commence for certain products to comply with the Lead Free requirements of the PCA 2022 by 1 May 2026. This Schedule indicates with an asterisk the product types for which Lead Free requirements apply. For further details refer to the ABCB News article Update: Advice on the new lead requirements and Notice of Direction 2021/4.2 Certification transition arrangements for Lead Free plumbing products.

This Schedule may be maintained or updated on a regular basis.

A PDF version of this Schedule is available from the WaterMark resource library.
